The Author.
I’ve always wanted to be a writer! I was one of those young children that wrote long, endless stories that seemed to go on forever, but as I got older I realised it was always good to have a plan to organise my ideas. I also enjoyed writing essays as a teenager and so it was not surprising that when I became a teacher, I took on the challenge of motivating children to investigate and reflect on the words used in various texts. It was exciting to challenge students to be critical thinkers when reading and I loved class discussions where students justified their opinions by providing evidence from texts. With such a background, It is only natural that once I retired I gravitated toward dabbling in writing.
I am a retired primary and middle school teacher of over 38 years, and I have lived and taught in New South Wales, the Northern Territory and in Queensland, Australia, where I currently live.
I am married with two adult children and two grandchildren. My family mean the world to me.
My interests are walking, reading, personal fitness, dragon boating and stand up paddle boarding.
In 2025 I published my first children’s picture book: “ KanGARoo’s Dance”. After being offered three differed hybrid contracts, I decided to self-publish, and do the illustrations myself. As it had been over forty years since I had drawn any pictures, at times I wondered, what have I done? It has certainly been an interesting, but also an incredibly rewarding process.
I am currently working on another picture book, as well as a series of chapter books for young readers.
